I’ve been professionally writing about technology since late 2020, and otherwise writing in one way or another for work or, god help me, for fun since I was a kid. That includes writing tourist guides for a small bicycle tour shop I worked at, copy editing for a small local cyclist zine, and writing about pop culture through the lens of feminism for a friend’s now-defunct website.
I also performed with bands throughout most of my twenties and some of my thirties. (You’ve never heard of any of them unless you were really into either western swing or ELO tribute acts in Austin, Texas in the 2010s.) And before I started writing about technology, I had the work history of a person trying to make it as a creative but who still has bills to pay—bartending, cooking, tour guiding. Even had a random stint as an assistant manager of a furniture store. I also love a video game. I’m a pretty big Nintendo head.
You can find my tech writing over at The Verge, where I was the Weekend Editor for two years, and otherwise can read my freelance work at Gizmodo (here’s a second Gizmodo link for a previous freelancing stint there.), IGN, PCWorld, TechHive, Tom’s (both Hardware and Guide), and HardcoreGamer.
If you want to offer me a job, freelance or full time, or pitch me something to review, feel free to reach out to me via e-mail. I’m also on Bluesky, Mastodon, and LinkedIn for more casual communication (I don’t generally respond to pitches in those locations). Probably have some dead accounts elsewhere, so if you see me anywhere else, don’t bother.
